About Us
For more than two centuries, Harbour View Inn has been part of the story of Mackinac Island. What began in 1820 as the summer home of Madame Magdelaine Laframboise, one of the Great Lakes' most influential fur traders and businesswomen, has grown into one of the island's most distinctive places to stay. Over the years, neighboring historic buildings joined the original Chateau LaFramboise, creating a collection of four unique residences surrounded by gardens, porches, and peaceful harbor views.
Today, Harbour View Inn offers a fresh chapter in that legacy. Following an extensive renovation of its public spaces and guest rooms, the hotel pairs timeless architecture with thoughtfully designed accommodations and modern comforts. Set just beyond the busiest part of downtown, guests enjoy a quieter side of Mackinac Island while remaining an easy walk from the shops, restaurants, waterfront, and many of the island's most celebrated attractions. From mornings on the veranda to afternoons exploring by bicycle and evenings spent beneath the stars, Harbour View Inn invites you to experience Mackinac Island at a pace that has remained wonderfully unchanged for generations.
