How do I get my ferry tickets if I have a package?

If you purchase a package with ferry tickets you will go to the ticket office window at the ferry dock on the mainland and tell them you are staying at the Harbour View Inn and give them the name on the reservation. They will have your tickets there for you. You can go to either ferry line in either city.

Can the hotel store my luggage after check-out if I would like to explore the island that day?

Yes. Keep your luggage tags on from your arrival and make departure arrangements with the front desk at check-out. Our porters, who work on a gratuity basis, will meet you at the ferry dock with our luggage for your ferry departure.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 3:00pm and check-out is at 11:00am.

Does the hotel have a pool or fitness center?

Harbour View Inn does not have a pool or fitness center.

Does the hotel offer room service?

Harbour View Inn does not offer room service.

How many restaurants does the hotel have onsite?

Bill’s Grill is located onsite and is open 11:00am – 3:00pm, weather permitting, Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

Is the hotel pet-friendly?

The Harbour View Inn is not a pet-friendly hotel. To respect all of our guests, we ask that you leave your pets at home. A $250 room cleaning fee will be charged to guests to cover the costs to bring the room back to a pet-free condition. Service animals are always welcome. Our staff may ask what task (s) the service animal performs. Please notify us at time of reservation so that we may make our staff aware of your arrival.

How do I get my luggage to the hotel?

Please have your luggage tagged for the “Harbour View Inn” at the ferry dock on the mainland prior to your departure.

Upon your arrival to the island claim your luggage with the Harbour View Inn dock porter before leaving the dock.

Our dock porters, who work on a gratuity basis, will transport your luggage to the inn.

Is breakfast complimentary at the Harbour View Inn?

Yes! Our complimentary continental breakfast is served daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the main house and also in the Cottage House for those guests. Offerings include oatmeal, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, juice, milk, coffee and hot tea. Please note that items may vary by day of week and time of year.

Are there elevators at the Harbour View Inn?

There is not an elevator in the Chateau LaFramboise or Cottage House. There is an elevator in the Guest House and a breezeway that connects to the Carriage House.

What is the departure procedure at the Harbour View Inn?

We want you to travel back to the mainland with your bags. Please follow the following steps to ensure they arrive on the same ferry as you:

  • Leave your bags in your room.
  • Let the front desk know what ferry line, city and time you will be departing on, and how many bags you have.
  • If your estimated time of departure changes, please call us and let us know.
  • Before you board the ferry for your departure, claim your bags with the dock porter at the dock. They will not send unclaimed bags across.
  • Claim your bags on the mainland using your ferry companies’ luggage procedures.
  • If you are taking your bags with you please let the front desk know before checking-out.

What is the Harbour View Inn’s reservation policy?

Rates are quoted daily and are subject to Michigan’s 6% sales tax, 8% hotel service charge and 3% MICVB assessment. Guest room rates are based on single or double occupancy. Each additional person, $20.00 per day. A minimum night stay is customarily required during peak periods.

What is the Harbour View Inn’s deposit policy?

An advance deposit equal to one night’s stay (room and tax) is required to confirm your reservation. We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. Your deposit will be applied to the final night of your confirmed stay.

Certain promotional rates require full prepayment at time of booking and are non-refundable. Non-refundable promotional rates are below.

What is the Harbour View Inn’s cancellation policy?

2024 reservations can be cancelled with refund of deposit amount less $25.00 cancellation fee if cancelled 11 or more days prior to arrival date. Cancellations 10 or less days prior to arrival forfeit paid deposit amount.

Late cancellations can apply the forfeited deposit amount to a future stay in the same season.

Guests who do not cancel and do not arrive on their scheduled arrival date will be charged a no-show penalty equal to the total cost of the originally booked stay. Refunds will not be given to guests who arrive late or depart early.

Are cars allowed on Mackinac Island?

There are no cars on the island. Harbour View Inn is about a 10-minute walk from the ferry docks. Taxi service is available through the Mackinac Island Carriage Tours by calling 906-847-3323. The taxi rate from the dock to Harbour View is $5.50 per person one way.

Can I bring my own bike to Mackinac Island?

You can bring your own bicycles with you on the ferry for a small fee. Harbour View Inn has guest bike parking racks located throughout the property. You may bring a bike lock with you. (Harbour View Inn is not responsible for any lost, damage or stolen property.)

Where can I rent a bike on Mackinac Island?

Harbour View Inn has a limited selection of single speed cruiser and tandem bikes available for rent on-site. Please visit the front desk for more information. There are many bike rental facilities on the island for your convenience also.

Are mini fridges available?

Mini fridges are available upon request on a first come, first serve basis. Please call 906-847-0101 to put a request on your reservation.

Do all of the rooms have air conditioning?

While most of our rooms do have air-conditioning, some rooms do not. Please contact the front desk at 906-847-0101 for more information.

How do I get to Mackinac Island?

There are two ferry lines to choose from for your island transportation: 

  • Star Line Ferry - Use code HV2024 at online check out for a $1.00 discount.
  • Shepler’s – Offers a $2 discount on advance ticket purchases on the Shepler's Ferry website.

Each ferry service offers overnight parking options. Please check their websites for up to date pricing, schedules, and locations.

If you purchased one of our packages that include ferry tickets, you may go to either ferry ticket office, give them your name and they will provide you with your tickets. Please ensure the number of adults and children is correct on your reservation so you receive the correct number of tickets upon arrival.
